About United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is a Middle East country that takes tourism seriously, and it shows. While the Middle East perhaps isn't thought of as a prime holiday destination, that is changing thanks to countries like the United Arab Emirates that are going out of their way to cater to the travel and tourism industry. While oil and natural gas exports are still the country's main sources of revenue, tourism is rising. If you've ever wanted to visit the Middle East, this is good news for you. The country has spent a lot of money the last few decades improving the infrastructure of the country as well as adding other attractions to the country.

The Palm Islands are the world's largest man-made islands. Comprised of both commercial and residential real estate, it's really quite a sight to see in person. The three islands are named Palm Jumeirah, the Palm Jebel Ali and the Palm Deira. All three are favorite destinations for tourists and travelers from all over the world. If you visit the United Arab Emirates, you're going to want to stop on at least one of these islands. Many prefer Palm Jumeirah the most. Not only is the architecture amazing, the very land itself that the complex sits on is amazing as well.

While you may have heard about it when it was called Burj Dubai, the renamed Burj Khalifa is currently the world's tallest building. (Are you beginning to see some trends forming when looking at this small Middle East country?) With a hotel and many other things to see and experience in this building, you're definitely going to want to stop by and take a look at this massive feat - even if it's just from the outside. At 160 floors and over 2,900 stairs, be lucky that there's a bank of elevators in this building. The observation deck which recently opened to the public is the tallest in the world, and has a rush of people everyday. Make sure you get there early and get your time stamped ticket so you can make it to the top of the world - literally.

Fun United Arab Emirates Facts

  • The UAE got independence from British rule in the 1970s, and since then has been doing rather well for itself.
  • Location of the world's tallest building!
  • World's largest man-made artificial islands!
  • Known all over the world as a place for shopping, eating, and having fun.

There is, of course, much more to do and see in the United Arab Emirates. That said, there's still a lot planned for the future, including Dubailand and Dubai Sports City. The latter may be home to the Olympics in the future, while the former is slated to be about twice the size of Disney World. The United Arab Emirates has worked hard over the last few decades to make their small country one of the largest in the world. There's really never been a better time to travel to the Middle East. And with countries like the United Arab Emirates, there's plenty to see and do, no matter what you're into. If you look closely at the United Arab Emirates, you might be surprised at how inviting the country is and how much they have to offer besides raw petroleum.
